Tips for writing a romance subplot

Hey everyone!!
So I’m writing a fantasy story (for fun) with a romance subplot. Part of the story takes place in a palace, where the main character (who works as an assistant to the princess) falls in love with one of her older brother’s childhood best friends who works as a chef there. This story is just for fun, but I’m curious as to what y’all like in a romance. Any romance tropes you like in particular that you’d like to share? Scenes from movies you think are really romantic? Tips on how to write a convincing romance? Let me know!!

I know you already said you weren't going to do this but I'd like to reiterate: do not make anything happen between her and the prince. Please. It's such an overdone concept, the poor girl and the prince, where he's a huge jerk to everyone, including her, BUT he's actually suuuuch a nice guy deep down, it's just pressure from his family that causes him to be so- no. Hot chef only. Men who can cook >>>> rich douchebags

I’m actually going to make the prince’s personality to be petty and unlikeable an attempt to kill the prince romance trope.

Cause douchebag prince thinking some girl is special and different from all the other girls throwing themselves at him for some unknown reason is so annoying lmao

"she's the only girl in the whole world that hates me and wishes i was dead... it's so hot, i want that one"
