Waterparks

Hey everybody! So, I've been listening a lot to this band I found recently, called Waterparks. I think I've said this in a comment before, but I don't typically listen to bands, just individual songs. But, they're practically all I've been listening to lately. I haven't heard a song that I don't like yet, even though there are many I haven't heard yet. "Telephone" is my personal favorite as of right now, though there are a lot that come as a close second.

Anyway, I thought it would be fun if I said which song reminds me of all of y'all. Like just the general vibe of the song, or if I could picture y'all singing it to someone, or if I can see you just enjoying the song in general. Again, I obviously haven't heard every song they've written, so there are probably ones that match better, but this is just based off the ones I've heard so far. There were some people I had no idea for, so I had to compromise on a song that didn't completely fit. Either way, hope y'all enjoy, cause this was fun for me to do :)

Renee: Made in America

Abbie: [Reboot]

Clara: Telephone

Camila: Stupid For You

Sofia: Dream Boy

Deryn: Watch What Happens Next

Adriana: High Definition

I already told you this, but the lyrics to the song you chose for me were so sweet and I just love you so much😭😭

I love the song lyrics that you chose for me! I don't know how to feel that the song you chose had lyrics like: "We're justice warriors when we're bored, you see?", "We're classic hysteria/We're culture clashing, hazard smashing", and "We're culture vultures picking from/The honest pieces" but the feel of the song is great!

Renee, it gave me similar vibes to you because you don't hesitate to stand up for what you believe in. I wasn't suggesting that YOU'RE the classic hysteria or the culture vultures, but rather one that calls them out, if that makes more sense

I looked at this post looking forward to an in-depth analysis of aquatic amusement park reviews in the area and was severely disappointed, so I will use this as an opportunity to share a narrative regarding my experience with waterparks. When I was a child, every time I passed Blue Bayou near Baton Rouge, I longed to go. Every summer, my father promised me that we would go one weekend and then delayed it. Finally, my youth group was taking a trip to this foreign land and got on the bus with an incomplete permission slip and was not allowed to go. I nearly cried. To do this day, I have not yet been to Blue Bayou, and it taunts me now as I drive past it, primarily because of my deep enthusiasm for waterparks. Nevertheless, I will listen to the song you recommended and discuss it in person.

Your truly,
Hunter

@Hunter, every time my mom and I drive past Blue Bayou she always says, "I just know that swimming pool has ungodly amounts of piss in it." Hope that makes you feel better!

Hi Laura,

Joanna is actually a huge fan of Waterparks, and she completely agrees with your choice in song for me. I really like the song too. Definitely adding to the playlist titled "Chill and cry if you want to"

I appreciate this. It was very sweet.

Much love,
21 Questions Chick

Hi, Laura! This is so thoughtful of you. Thank you for thinking of each one of us! When I was talking with you in class today, you mentioned that Zone Out was a more mellow version of Dream Boy. Dream Boy is more upbeat since it was produced when the band was still together but Zone Out was produced after they broke up. So, I looked up Dream Boy. Zone Out has the exact same lyrics as Dream Boy's first stanza. Except, Zone Out is cut off there (it's only a minute long). It seems kind of bitter sweet to me. It's nostalgic and reflecting on the memories of the band, but they realize now that it's over. In Dream Boy, the next stanza starts with "Build your expectations." Well, Zone Out doesn't have those lyrics because the expectations are over. They lived them and now they're done with them. Reminds me a a bit of how high school is ending. We had all these grand expectations for high school/senior year, but now... it's nearly done. We went through the year(s), whether they filled our expectations or not.
I tend to think about the future a lot. I try to just enjoy myself in the present as much as possible, because once time has passed, we can never get it back. I feel like when we're young and even now, we all think we want to grow up. But in reality, we don't really want to. We just think we do. When I realized that I perfectly love my life just the way it is and I wasn't desperate for change, time started going by so much faster. I don't even really want to find out what college I'm going to because when I do, high school will officially be over. It'll be time to move into the next phase of our lives, which is scary and exciting at the same time. I'm just going to try to make the most of my time, because I really do realized how quickly it'll go by (or at least, I think I do). Do any of y'all feel the same way? Our childhood is essentially over, but I hope we can still find childlike joy in life.

Hey Izzy! Thanks for the response <3 I should've clarified this better, but when I said they broke up, I meant the lead singer and his girlfriend at the time. The band is thankfully still together and actually released a song very recently (Snow Globe, in case anyone is interested). Dream Boy is Awsten (lead singer) reminiscing on his relationship when it first started, and Zone Out is reflecting on those memories and feelings now that it's over.
I didn't even make the correlation between the songs and our school situation, but you're 100% right. Dream Boy is like the beginning of our junior year, when we were so excited for school to just hurry up and be over, and Zone Out is like now, when we've all resigned ourselves to the fact that it's over and it ended in a bad way. I find Zone Out to be a very bittersweet song as well. He's remembering the good times, but he knows he won't have any more. Personally, I keep subconsciously wishing that this year was longer so that we'd have a better chance of returning to normal, but unfortunately that just won't happen, and at this point, it's probably the best thing for us to get a new start. Very bittersweet ending to our year, but I'm glad we're all in it together.

Aw thank you, Laura. I'm glad I had all of y'all too for this crazy year.

Hey Laura! Thank you for thinking of us and reccome doing these awesome songs! To be honest, I was a little thrown off by the song for my name, “Stupid for You”, because of Hunter’s oppression of me (lol). However, I looked at the lyrics more, and it had a lot of imagery of someone caring for another person and I think it’s very cute and sweet.

hey laura! first of all, this idea is so kind and thoughtful and clever and i can't tell you how much i loved it. okay, i actually loved the song "blonde." i have this thing where i really like fast paced rhyme schemes? i'm not sure that's the proper way to word it but i love bridges or verses where artists match the amount of syllables and idk..i'm not sure i'm making sense. taylor swift will do it in a lot of her bridges. anyway, this song had that! in the verses right before the chorus, the lyrics began to pick up and i loved it so much. i added it to my twenty twenty one playlist and everything. thank you for thinking of me :)
