Hi everyone!
I hope you guys are doing ok :) I was reading Abby’s post from Saturday where she was talking about how much she loves architecture, which I found pretty interesting because I wasn’t expecting that, but now that I think about it, it seems really fitting. I’m planning on majoring in Management, maybe minor in Finance. I want to get my MBA and then eventually work towards getting my executive MBA. What are y’all’s plans?

Hey, Adriana! I think that's really interesting. I always love to hear about people's plans, because it's so strange and yet wonderful to imagine what we'll all be doing 5, 10, 20, 50 years into the future. I also didn't know Abbie wanted to do architecture until a little while ago, but I agree that I think she'll love it! She's very artistic, so I think it'll be a good match. I can also see you in management. You've done such a great job managing the Halo and student council. As for me, I'm not really sure yet. For all those college apps where they make you put down your intended major, I've been listing Economics and Biology. Or, if there's just one option, Economics with intent to be pre-med. But honestly, I have no idea. That's what sounds interesting to me now, but I will likely change my mind in the future. Being a physician is what I've also "known" with my parents, so as strange as it is, that profession is the one I can most relate to. I've also been really getting into economics lately, so maybe there's also a future there. But who knows? Hopefully me at the end of sophomore year of college when I have to declare. Anyway, have a great weekend!
Hi Adriana! I’m planning to major in biophysics with a possible minor in music. Physics is my love for life; I especially enjoy modern physics and quantum mechanics (I wrote about Schrödinger’s cat for my CommonApp essay haha). I also love biology, particularly genetics and DNA/RNA sequencing. So I’m planning to study biophysics, which uses physics equations and theorems to explain and expand upon biological phenomena. However, I’d also like to continue playing music, so I’d like to minor in music and/or participate in an orchestra and take music lessons in college. I did apply to one conservatory (music school), but if I’m accepted, I’d do a dual-degree program (we’ll see about that :) Anyway, I wish you the very best as you pursue mastering and finance! I think you’ll do very well in the professional world. And Izzy, best of luck in your pursuit of economics and biology!
Hey Paz,
Thank you for asking...I’d love to dive into it. Currently, I’m set on getting a degree in marine biology with a concentration in conservation and environmental sciences. It’s been a dream of mine since I was young and first learned about pollution and the effect it has on various marine ecosystems. I want to make a difference and really help clean our waterways, saving as many species as I can in the process. I’ve also been interested in clean energy and how amazing it would be for the world; not only would salaries be higher than those in the natural resource sites but it would also be a lot safer for not only the environment, but us too. If that all fails and I turn out to be this horrible scientist, I have the backup plan of becoming a writer. I always thought I wanted to be a novelist, and I think I still would publish at least one book, but I’ve been deep diving into a lot of poetry recently. I have a lot of recommendations for poetry books if anyone is interested. I counted before this comment and I have 20+ poems as of right now that are completed, but I still have a lot of idea I haven’t finished yet.
I think you’d do great in Management; you always have been a strong leader Paz (I would know as your right hand for many clubs).
Hey Adriana! I know for sure that I want to major in psychology, but what I want tot do with it I'm not sure. I think I'd like to become a therapist, but that goal may change over time. I'd also like to be an author eventually, and I plan to minor in creative writing if whichever school I go to offers that (I got accepted to Furman today, btw. I don't know if I'm gonna go, but it's very nice to have an option other than Millsaps or Lipscomb). I'd like to publish novels one day, but those are quite a feat, so I think I'll stick to short story collections to start with. For everyone that's responded so far, I can totally picture y'all in those career positions. I wish y'all luck in your future endeavors!
Hey Adriana!
I'm really glad you asked. I have no idea. All I know right now is that I want to help people, which means that I'm deciding between going into medicine and becoming a physicians assistant, going into education and becoming a teacher, or studying psychology and becoming a therapist. However, right now, I'm leaning towards medicine. Maybe I can teach later on in life.
Adriana, I think management is a great career path for you! Like everyone in the comments have said, you're a natural leader.
Sorry I deleted the last post, I misspelled psychology and Laura made fun of me :).
Hey Adriana!
This is such a great question and like Leven said I'm really glad you asked! So, my plan for college is to major in Political Science and minor in Sociology. I really want to become a lawyer and later a politician when I get older. This might come as a shock to most of you, but I am very aggressive and I don't let go when it comes to things that I believe are right and true. So much so that whenever my brother and I get into a bit of a quibble, my mom starts calling me "the bulldog." Also, when he was alive, my dad would always sit me down at the kitchen table and tell me about his cases that he has worked on and how he carried through with them. I learned a lot through him and I know that this is what I want to do. And as for politics, I really became interested in the year 2016 (and more so over the summer) and since then most of my free time has been spent reading up on things such as systematic racism, classism, and things of that nature. I really just want to help make a (much needed) change in our country. Anyways, like Rikki said you'll do amazing in Management. You are definitely a leader.
Hi, Adriana!
Look at that. You and I meeting in a comment section again. I plan to go into accounting and computer science (maybe also work on an MBA, who knows) and then law school. My goal is to become a CPA and then a tax attorney. The only hard part now is finding a college. Good luck.
Hunter
Hey y'all!
I am so glad that everyone has a plan! (Yes Leven, no plan is still a plan because you know that you want to help people.) I am interested in studying chemistry with art and french minors. I love chemistry, and I currently want to go into the Medical use of Cosmetics. I use art as my way of de-stressing, and french is so that I can work with other cultures, including France and some Northern African countries like Morocco. I want to study abroad in a French-speaking country. I have also thought about water acidity (like Rikki) and engineering (like Abbie). I really want to be a teacher later in life (second career) and teach high school level science.
I am glad to hear that everyone is thinking about the future (because my parents keep asking and I'm like, how would I know what every person in my grade is planning on doing?), and I hope everyone is successful. (I'm sure you will be!)
Hey!! Thank you for asking! This is a great question, and I think it's so important, especially since we are going to college in 4 1/2 months. Wait, is that right? That's so crazy! After reading Abby's post, I was really interested she's interested in majoring in architecture. That's so cool. For me, it took me forever to figure out possible fields to major. At first, I was interested in law, but I realized it wasn't for me, and I felt lost for the longest time. However, I recently figured out I want to major in broadcast journalism. That is basically reporting stories and broadcasting it like people on the Today Show. The people on the Today Show actually inspired me to choose that.
Hey guys,
Thank you guys for your support of me and my future major!! I think all your majors make a lot of sense. Rikki, your future job with conservation sounds really cool. And yeah I totally see Erica as a politician. Honestly all of y’all’s majors make perfect sense. I’m thinking about checking out psychology and keeping up with French (minor?) too. All I’ve been talking about is going to Wheaton and I’m so excited :)
Hey Adriana!! Ok so, I’m definitely not set on any major yet but I’m definitely thinking marketing research or something. At first I wanted to follow a premed track, but I don’t think I’m passionate enough about medicine to make that much of a commitment. Marketing research caught my attention because I feel like it fuses my humanities brain with my science brain perfectly. The only thing I’m set on is getting a minor in Spanish. I’m somewhat fluent, but I feel like a minor would be super beneficial.
