Procrastination

Hey y'all!

This might just be me, but is anyone else suffering from severe procrastination this year so far. As y'all can see from this timestamp, I'm posting 15 minutes before the deadline. I think that with the new schedule combined with a return to school, we are just drained. Consequently, the time when we're productive has gone down severely. for example, I'm currently speaking this blog into my phone because I'm too lazy to type it out.

This might just be me, but I feel tired and lazy, more so than usual. I didn't think senioritis would sit in until the second semester. Additionally, this has been very hard on the college process because I don't want to write my essays, but I know they need to get done. This is just my opinion, so y'all might feel differently. But, I still wanted to share.

Yours truly,
Hunter

Hi Hunter,

I totally concur! Last week I had an audition that was due at 11:59 pm which I submitted at 11:57. I have been procrastinating so much this year, and I think it's because a lot of the things I was looking forward to were cancelled. If AllState and District and the NAfME All-National Orchestra had been this fall as they were supposed to be, I definitely would've practiced more because I would've had something to practice for. As it is, AllState and District are moved to the spring and NAfME, which I spent 2.5 months practicing for, is virtual instead of in-person *sobs*. So now my practice routine begins no earlier than 9:30 pm (usually around 11 lol). I also feel exhausted even though I'm doing a lot less than last year since so many things have been cancelled. I think it's a combination of stressful college applications, being frustrated that I can't vote in the election, and struggling to get over the disappointment of the expectation versus reality of senior year.
Also, I just wanted to remind you to write your "Why Tulane" essay. :)

Hey Hunter! I think everyone is super frustrated and drained. I’ve NEVER procrastinated so much in my life than I have this year. It’s awful. The senioritis set in too fast. I also submitted my blogs late last night, and I admit they were pretty awful. But, now as you can tell, I’m working ahead for a change. With that being said, I wanted to comment on this post to share that taking little steps to work ahead help with the senioritis. I try and work on applications that are due in months little by little, and it honestly makes me feel so accomplished. So yeah, just try and take those little steps.

Hey Hunter!
I am definitely feeling the senioritis as well. I know that once I get all of my college applications in and everything important finished, I'm going to become so much lazier. Volleyball is also ending soon, which is the only exercise and daily activity outside of school that I get, so when that ends, I'm just going to be going home every day and sitting in my bed doing nothing for hours on end. I mean, I do that now, but at least I'm also playing sports now. I'm also turning in my blogs really late (except for this one! I'm doing this on Tuesday!) because I can never find motivation to do anything anymore unless it's at the very last minute. For example, I got three whole extensions on a slide show for creative writing. It was supposed to be due Wednesday the 21st, but I got it moved to Thursday, and then Friday, and then to yesterday. So, I got all of those extensions, had plenty of spare time to do it and do it well, and then I did the entire project in 30 minutes at midnight the night before. Last year, I had so much to do and was super stressed, but at least I cared more about the quality of my work and doing things on time. This year, I just feel plain lazy, and I don't know why or what I can do about it. Hopefully the year just goes by fast.

Agreed. As the weeks go by, and the holidays are coming up, I’m just slowly checking out. I mean I still don’t ever think I would just not care about my school work, but I don’t know lately I’ve just been enjoying living in the moment. I don’t know if that makes sense. I just am living each moment and have been really working on myself. Some people may think I’m closed off, but I really don’t mean it. I really miss having everyone present there with me. I truly do hope to be able and see you guys soon.
