"End of the worlds"

I just wanted to say how crazy it is that life has changed so drastically in such a short period of time. Just a few weeks ago everything was normal. We were in school, going into public places regularly, and we didn't mind being within 6 feet of each other.
When thinking of a deadly virus spreading throughout the planet, end of the world movies usually come to mind. We would think of a virus causing society to fall and all the people turing into zombies.
Obviously, right now we are facing a global pandemic. To me, it doesn't feel like the end of the world. However, some people are acting like it's the end. Why are people so obsessed with the end of the world? It seems like since I was born there have been multiple "end of the worlds." Let me know what y'all think!

There have definitely been certain unnecessary fears and overreactions related to the virus, such as people hoarding toilet paper, but it is still an extremely alarming situation due to the virus's easy spreadability and ability to mutate quickly. In fact, I read earlier today that the virus can last 4-5 minutes in the air, meaning that maintaining a six feet separation between you and someone else may not be enough. That being said, I agree with you in that this isn't going to cause the world to end but it sure is dangerous.

I have seen a lot of talk about covid-19 being the start of a biblical apocalypse! People can find fear in any situation and try to justify it so it seems less scary. In reality, we're going through what many people have also experienced in history. I think it's crazy that this Covid-19 pandemic could be a topic in history classes and taught in textbooks in a couple hundred years. People will be studying the effect this virus had on the world just like we've studied the Black Plague!
