Senioritis???

 Hey y’all,

I hope you have have been doing ok, and are hopefully somewhat enjoying these last few months here at St. Martin’s. I know the administration has tried to do what they can to give us a few of the senior traditions, and although I really appreciate them for that, it’s honestly not the same. I feel like I’m at a point right now where I’m just going through the motions and am just trying to get by. I’m so looking forward to Thanksgiving and the holidays because because I know that’ll get me in the spirits, and I REALLY REALLYYYYYY need a break from school. It’s mentally exhausting.

I’m at a point where I just want to graduate and move on to other things...How are y’all feeling?

Hey Adriana!
I agree completely. This week, especially, has been hell. It felt so long and every day I had an assessment, which is fair considering we are now seniors and this is expected, but Jesus it was hard. I think the stress from COVID, the election, school work, and colleges is starting to get to me and is making me mentally check out of everything. As you said, I cannot wait for the holidays because it's a break that is MUCH needed, for both the students and the teachers. Let's just hope all of this stress will go away in the next year. Fingers crossed....
Best,
Erica

Hey Adriana. I’ve been feeling the same way. It seems that all the senior privileges we were promised were taken away. I think seniors naturally have an attitude of I-just-can’t-wait-to-get-out-of-here. However, with hardly any (to no) privileges, it feels like all I’m waiting for is the diploma and the goodbye. I’m trying to enjoy my senior year as much as possible, but with events being shut down, and only really being able to hang out in person with a handful of people, I feel frustrated. Senior year used to have lunch-leave, us getting to be first in line for things, and a general spirit of do-whatever-you-want-that-you-haven’t-done-yet. Not anymore I guess. It’s still pretty exciting to be a senior, but it’s not as great as what I’ve been promised for years. That’s understandable. The reasons make perfect sense as to why it is the way it is, but it doesn’t suck any less. I’m hoping for a holiday and for better days. Let’s hope this pandemic gives it a rest for the end of our senior year. Cowabunga my dudes. 🤙🏼

Hi Adriana!
I agree. While we know administration is doing its best to keep this year "normal", it's so frustrating that our normal is so different from everyone else's. We can't be upset with anyone, because they're doing their best in a world with COVID. Our class, in my opinion, has it the worst out of the high schoolers. The class of 2020 got a normal beginning, and while it is so upsetting that they hardly had a graduation and prom, we are probably not going to have a normal graduation, homecoming, prom, spring break, Thanksgiving break, and Christmas break. I hope that things get better for the class of 2022, because this really sucks. In addition to this, I can't imagine being fully online, like many of my friends. However, for them, it wasn't a choice. I have the privilege of having a healthy family, so we are not worried about the fatal impacts COVID has on too many others. Being able to return to campus has helped me settle into a routine so much, and I love being able to see people, regardless of if they don't teach me, or if I don't have a class with them. I really hope that COVID calms down next semester for my online friends to return, because senior year just isn't the same without them.

Hey, Adriana!

As my fellow classmates have said, I completely agree. Personally, I think knowing that I've been accepted into at least one college is satisfactory enough for me, so I have lost pretty much all motivation. Tonight, I baked a pie for life skills cooking project and sliced my finger in the process of cutting apples. That fact is irrelevant, but it's really hard to type this response with a bandaid on, so please excuse any typos from letters on the left side of the keyboard. I agree with Levo above me when she states that things aren't the same without everybody on campus. Now, that's ironic since I didn't go to StM last year, but I really want to be able to talk to y'all without having to text. Personally, I've been lazy since sophomore year when my senioritis set it, but it has gotten really bad over the past year and half. Last year, I was at such a low that I was doing my homework for all my classes in the class that was before when it was due. Know you're not alone in this feeling.

Yours truly,
Hunter

Hey Adriana! I feel you! I’ve submitted all my college applications, so at this point, I don’t feel like showing up to school anymore. I’m just so focused on getting my decisions back. Honestly, once I figure out where I’m going, I will have no motivation to go to school at all. I mean, they can’t withdraw my acceptance unless I fail out of senior year, which I feel like is kind of hard to do. If it were a normal year with all the normal senior festivities, I know I wouldn’t be so unmotivated. We got this guys. We’re almost halfway there!!
