Quick Question

Who's your favorite band/artist and why? Also what is your favorite song from that band? My favorite band is Tame Impala and my favorite song by them is Expectation. I would like to know yours.

I honestly don't know my favorite artist or my favorite song. However, Kanye West was my top artist on Spotify this year and my most listened to song was his hit "Touch the Sky," so I will roll with that. In "Touch the Sky," Kanye reminisces about times in his life when he used to wait in hour long lines at the club, and his idea of fine dining was the KFC buffet. By the time this song came out, Kanye had already rose to fame with his freshman album The College Dropout, and he was no longer a small producer for Jay-Z. Due to his success, Kanye felt like he was destined for greatness. His days of wondering, "Man, these -- that much better than me?" were over because now he was setting the scene for the rap game, from his K. West Beats to his pink polo collared shirts. Before his dream became a reality, Kanye was left to do a lot of soul searching and questioning. Post success, however, led Kanye to believe that, "'Fore the day I die, Imma touch the sky." He felt like he was on cloud 9, maybe even almost literally. The point of this song, I believe, was Kanye's way of appreciating his accomplishments and expressing his faith in more coming. In order to relate this back to English class, I am going to be basic and compare this to existentialism: Kanye's accomplishments reassured his faith, values, and confidence in a life in the heavens after death. I think this is a prime example of your existence preceding essence.
