Inferno parody?

I had a funny idea; what if we took the concept of the descent into hell further into modern day places?  For instance, we could input some well known reddit person for Virgil and have them take the protagonist through to the depths of reddit.  What do you guys think, and where else could we experience a "descent into hell?"

I think this is a really interesting idea Elliot! This also made me think of a different way of looking at the poem. What if instead of it being Dante's Inferno it was Virgil's Inferno. In other words, what if the poem was from Virgil's perspective instead of being from Dante's perspective. Would Virgil be complaining the whole time about showing Dante around and having to explain all these things to him in Hell? Or would Virgil love giving Dante tours of the different circles of Hell? I am not really sure how it would all go. What do y'all think about this? Do y'all think this would be an interesting read?

There are so many different ways to approach this. Because, yes Dante’s inferno is about hell and eternal damnation. But, the concept that you’re referring to is more of a learning experience through an experienced guide. You could have a reddit person guiding one through the depths of reddit. It could also work for almost any other digital platform. But, if you think about it, Virgil is really just a teacher. Our teachers are our guides into the depths of their individual subjects. And to Malorie, Virgil would definitely not be complaining. He repeatedly notes that this trip is sent from the heavens. But yes, it would be interesting to see Virgil’s point of view and his knowledge.
