Medea vs. Oedipus

As our discussion on Medea come to a close and we all begin our preparations for the test, I was wondering which play you guys liked the most. When these plays were first performed, obviously Oedipus was much more successful and popular then Medea. This was most like not because of how good the play was, but more because Medea challenged the gender standards at the time. Some parts of Medea even seem as though they could have come from the 1960s civil rights movement. I for one, enjoyed Medea more as it questioned many of the gender norms at the time. Both of these plays brought into question the idea of fate vs. free will, and promoted the principal idea of balance. This reminds me of the verba sapienti we learned in math class, Ne Minimum, meaning not too much. Although Oedipus was probably more popular at the time, I believe Medea would be more popular by today's standards.
