St. Patrick's Day Bake Sale!!!

 Hey y'all,

I just wanted to let y'all know that Cloaks and Dresses Club is having a St. Patrick's Day-themed bake sale this Wednesday whose proceeds will go towards clothing and other resources for abused and homeless kids and teens. I'm particularly excited for this bake sale because we were supposed to have a St. Patrick's Day bake sale last year, but it had to be cancelled because of COVID-19. It really means a lot to me that we're finally able to have the bake sale I've been planning for over a year :) We'll be selling cupcakes, chocolate and white chocolate covered pretzels, lava cakes, cake pops, donuts, and maybe even cookies! Shoutout to Cami for helping me bake some goodies today and to Ryn for getting me an awesome mini cake pop maker that we used for the cake pops! (And it's pink! Literally so perfect :) Anyway, please BRING CASH on Wednesday so that y'all can buy some treats. We'll have our table set up outside of the back entrance of the theatre (right by the front of the upper school).

Hahaha I was about to ask if anyone was free to sit at the bake sale table during 4th period, but then I realized that this class meets during 4th period...But if y'all know anyone who is available, please let them know! You can get a service hour for NHS for helping out with the bake sale.

Also, I got Snapchat to promote the bake sale and I have literally no clue how to use it haha. But if y'all want to "friend me" (is that how it works? lol) I'd be happy to exchange awkward selfies... :)

Anyway, thanks for bearing with me. I hope y'all bring cash to buy some sweet treats on Wednesday!

Getting a new dog

 Hey lovelies!!

My family is getting a new dog!! We’re getting a border collie (not necessarily purebred) from a rescue shelter that specializes in that breed. I’m nervous about how my dog Mattie will react to the new dog. Mattie is pretty shy around other dogs, especially if they are high energy. Border Collies, as a breed, have extremely high energy. I’m worried she might go into a shell if there’s another dog to wear her out during the day. Right now all she has is Speckle, who is a 13 year old deaf dog, so it will be quite the adjustment for her. I hope it’ll work out well between them.

I’m unsure how Speckles will react. When we first got Mattie, he was hurt and refused to acknowledge her for the whole hour ride back home from where we picked her up. He pretended she didn’t exist and stared out the window. When she went over to his side of the car, he’d get up and walk to the other side. I hope he’s less petty with this one.

I think it’ll be fine. Wish us luck!!

Growing up

This year has been crazy for many reasons, but I feel I’m a whole new person from before the pandemic started. And, actually, I became a lot better. I think that that happened to a lot of people. I think it’d be cool if we showed how we’ve grown as people of the course of the pandemic.

Some ways I’ve grown:

1.) I finally got my driver’s license!!

2.) I’m on better depression meds that actually work.

3.) my fashion sense improved and I did a lot of shopping to help update my wardrobe.

4.) I started exercising on my own.

5.)  I now have weekly guitar lessons so my playing has gotten a lot better.

Let me know how you guys have improved during the pandemic!!

College Update

Hi, y'all,

As many of you know, I got accepted in Georgia Tech this afternoon. It certainly made up for UChicago's rejection yesterday after I got deferred back in December. Neverthless, I am extremely excited. GA Tech and UChicago were my two reach schools; furthermore, GA Tech is ranked #3 in the world for my intended program of MBA-STEM. It's in Atlanta, which is definitely not my ideal place to live. However, Hartsfield-Jackson Airport there is the biggest airport in the country, so it should be relatively easy to hop on a flight to visit Catherine in NYC for brunch at Hoda's (don't worry, Ms. King, you can come too) or, you know, to visit my birthgivers here in NOLA, but I don't like them that much at the moment. Anyways, this was such a shock to me and my parents, and the biggest surprise of all is that they're cheaper than Tulane.

See y'all Monday!

My Day

Hey guys! Today (Saturday),  I had done so much, starting from 7 A.M. I woke up at 7 today because I had to get my hair done for my senior portraits. My appointment was at 9, and I had to wash my hair and stuff for my hair stylist to style my hair. Then, while I was in the shower, I was told the hair stylist wanted to see us earlier, so I had to hurry (even though it's 8:30 at this point). So I leave to go to my appointment and I got to see my hair stylist's nephew who is just a baby and he is so, so cute. Anyway, that's not important. After my appointment, I get ready and take my senior portraits. Then, I went to the Convention Center with my mom (in my nice clothes from the portraits) to get my Covid vaccine! Everything ran pretty efficiently, it was very organized, and people asked if I dressed up for the vaccine (lol). As I am writing this later, I can tell you my arm is pretty sore, and besides blogging, I have kept my arm in one position. That's what I have done today, what have y'all been up to?

Oh my god, I love Chipotle. Chipotle is my life.

 Hello friends,

Although we are all feeling not the best right now, tonight is a good night. There are a few reasons for this, and I shall list them:

1. I get Chipotle tomorrow (makes any day instantly better). This also is the reason for this weeks vine title.

2. I just randomly checked my email and found out I got into the University of California Irvine, which is one of my top schools at the moment.

3. My birthday is coming up, which means I get these sweet potato cupcakes from this bakery on Magazine.

4. It's Friday. And I had last period study hall so it was an early day.

5. I also decided to fake senior favorites for our class, if you have any recommendations please send them. It can be for a specific person or more general. I'm doing 2 per classmate.

Now, of course, there are still some bad things. I've been trying to dealing with a creepy incident involving Lord Voldemort (some of you will get it) that has honestly made my anxiety extremely high. Tomorrow is the year anniversary of my last day of on-campus schooling. As I won't be returning to campus for the foreseeable future, this makes me a little sad. Yes, it's my choice to be online but it's still...odd. I had so much I wanted to accomplish to really make this my year, and I have, but there's something so off about this year. Erica really put it best. I can't imagine how some of you must feel that have been here almost your entire lives; It must be really unsettling to see a place you once saw as home become something so unknown to you.

Anyways, I hope everyone has an amazing weekend. Only 28 more days left.

Wendy's Adventure

Hey y'all,

Even though I've already blogged twice this week, I really wanted to share Cami's and my Wendy's adventure with y'all. As y'all know, today was the first day for Lunch Leave, and Cami and I (and a few other friends) decided to get Wendy's for lunch. We ordered 4 Frosties, 3 chicken nuggets, and a spicy chicken sandwich. We checked to make sure we had the right number of Frosties after we paid (probably because we wanted to partake of them immediately), but we didn't check for anything else. Then when we got back to school, we were very disappointed and flabbergasted when we checked in the bag and there was a solitary spicy chicken sandwich and one order of fries. Fortunately for me, that was my order, but I felt really bad for everyone else. There wasn't enough time to drive all the way back to Elmwood and fix our order, so we ended up driving to Cane's down the road so that everyone else could have something besides a Frosty to eat for lunch. We got back with one minute to spare, so Cami didn't even get to eat her lunch. Although this episode was a bit frustrating, we all had fun and I think we'll laugh about it for awhile now (especially Cami, who paid a hefty $20 for my chicken sandwich and some Frosties). Anyway, what's y'all's most memorable lunch leave experience? Let me know in the comments.
