Guys, incest is still the best

OK, after reading Oedipus I'm sure a lot of you might be convinced that incest is no longer the best. I'm here to prove that it is. Some animals actually use incest to their benefit. For example, wasps use inbreeding to actually strengthen their gene pool. That is because wasps and other similar insects are haplodiploid. This means that, while females inherit genes from both their mother and father, males only inherit genes from their mother. Because of this, any inbred negative traits will be expressed in males, even if they are recessive. These males will soon die, therefore strengthening the gene pool of the population.

In Greek culture, incest was considered a shocking taboo. In today's culture, it's illegal all together. Humans have inbred for many centuries an often had children with many genetic diseases and deformities because of it. Incest was made illegal for a reason an that's because incest is not the best.

Although I see Luke's point as to why incest may be the best for some animals, but not for humans. incest causes many diseases as Rickeia stated above. Incest became a taboo for a reason. It is illegal and all around gross. Incest is definitely not the best.

While incest may work for some species, it does not work for humans. We are not wasps, our genes are equally divided between our mother and father. We have 46 chromosomes, 23 from our mom and 23 from our dad. When humans inbreed they often have defects. In Europe, members of the royal family often married their cousins in order to keep power within the family. As a result, hemophilia, a disorder where the blood doesn't clot properly was rampant within the royal family. Incest may help wasps, but it will destroy us.
