I know you're not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but I still think it's interesting to look at covers because they're often indicative as to the artist's thoughts.
So, here are some examples of covers of Notes from Underground that I found striking.
I also really like this one:
It's very simple, but I think it particularly emphasizes Underground Man's encounters with the officer. He becomes obsessed and focuses a crazy amount on artificial things like what fur is on his coat collar and what color his gloves are, etc. However, while he makes sure that he looks perfectly in place for his run-in with the officer, the officer still doesn't even notice him. Underground Man is still "invisible," no more important to the officer than an insect. In fact, the instance really makes Underground Man seem delusional and absurd.
