A Series of Unfortunate Events Influenced by Charles Baudelaire
The hit "children" novel series, A Seris of Unfortunate Events, has subtle references and is influenced by poet Charles Baudelaire. first and most obvious reference is the last name of the three main characters. The stories circulate around the adventures of the Baudelaire orphans as the search for the truth behind the mysterious death of their parents. Allegedly, according to NPR, the stories themselves are inspired by the dark poems and the life of Baudelaire himself; Baudelaire's life was literally a series of unfortunate events. Baudelaire is only one of the influences fo the series, according to NPR, Dante's Inferno is rumored to have influenced the author.
