iDante

Dante's Divine Comedy has been turned into an iPhone/iPad app! The app can display the entire reading (English or the original Italian) along with 500 of Gustave Dore's illustrations that compliment the different scenes of the reading. The app also includes a full 3D model of Dante's visions of hell, purgatory and heaven. I downloaded the app on my phone last night and played around with it for a little bit. My image of Dante's Hell completely changed. The app really helped me further understand/picture the landscape and layout of the different circles of hell that we have so diligently studied. Look at the below link to get a better understanding of the app.

That is so cool. I feel like it really demonstrates the continued impact Dante's works, and literature in general, has on future generations. Even though we weren't alive for any of the events Dante describes, that doesn't mean we can't learn from, relate to, or enjoy the poem. This app definitely proves the timelessness of Dante's Inferno.

I totally agree Brooke! Samantha this is awesome! I love how Dante's work has been modified to the interest of our society. I agree that this contributes to its timelessness.

That looks awesome! I think I might get that to study for the test monday. Thanks for showing us this. Visual representations of things always help me understand better.
