I'll start:

- In the 8th level, the fortunetellers’ heads spin backwards and they are forced to walk forwards and when they cry the tears run down the “cleft of their buttocks”. This is so deep in hell because damage of the flesh is not as bad as damage of the soul. Tiresias is here. This continues with the distortion of humanity theme, their human forms are being distorted they get farter away for God.

The vestibule of hell is for the people who never stood up for what they believe in. They chase a white banner, symbolizing that they chase meaninglessness. They are stung by bees and wasps to show thier guilty conscious. the blood and pus falls onto the maggots below.

Alright um... it's Easter weekend that Dante is ascending into Hell and he begins his journey as the sun rises. There is an epic simile about Paulo and Francesca that Ms. Scandurro mentioned in class starting on page 1033 line 40 comparing damned souls to birds. The birds are migrating which implies purpose unlike Paulo and Francesca in Carnal.

While dante goes to hell on friday, he comes out on sunday. this is ery symbolic to jesus' journey through death.

the people guilty of lust (carnal level) are swept around by a whirlwind. francesca and paolo, archilles, cleopatra, paris and tristan are in that level. just outside of it sits minos who determines which level the damned go according to how many times his tail coils.

Heretics – reject God's word.
The heretic are always in a tomb and they are being consumed by fire. They will be reunited with their physical bodies on judgment day (this will happened through hell).
