Deep Philosophical Question Pt.2

What is the definition of beauty and why has it been prevalent in society for so long? Is it purely defined as beauty on the outside or does it also include beauty on the inside? Is being beautiful an unrealistic standard or is it necessary for humans to have standards for each other?

I believe beauty is whatever you want it to be. What a person find's beautiful is based on their own opinions and feelings in that moment. For example, one may say the snow is beautiful while others think it's cold, wet, and gross. Beauty has been so prevalent in society because it has the power to inspire and produce passion, thus helping people achieve or create their dreams. While beauty can take a physical appearance, it can also be an emotional or creative energy. As stated before, I believe beauty is relative to opinion and a "beauty " standard" is unrealistic because it continuously changes all the time. Sidenote, beauty "standards" are also almost always only referring to women and most destroy their bodies trying to achieve it to please men who create or set the standard to begin with.

I think there's beauty in everything and everyone. For me this applies to people too. I believe no one is inherently one thing. While everyone is flawed I think theres beauty in every flaw too. I think the lyrics to "little things" by one direction captures this well.
"I know you've never loved
The crinkles by your eyes when you smile
You've never loved your stomach or your thighs
The dimples in your back at the bottom of your spine
But I'll love them endlessly"
Everyone has a different definition of beauty and there is beauty in everything.

In my opinion, there isn't a clear black and white definition to beauty. The definition itself varies from person to person. I'd define beauty as being a good person, that is a truly beautiful person in my view. However society has it's own definition and this changes throughout time, the beauty standard is really just what's outwardly attractive to men in that time period. Idealistic goals of this beauty standard are unachievable to more as the standards aren't realistic. However beauty standards are not necessary, they're hurtful to society.
