I liked The Unbearable Lightness of Being much more than One Hundred Years of Solitude. I think it was much less confusing and was much more interesting. The only thing I liked in One Hundred Years was the magical realism because that was kind of cool, but I like the love stories better. I thought it was much more intriguing. One Hundred Years was so confusing to me.

I also enjoyed The Unbearable Lightness of Being the best. While I was reading One Hundred Years of Solitide, it was difficult to stay engaged. As I've re-read the chapters, the plot details which originally confused me have become more clear. The magical realism does add an element of fantasy to the novel which I enjoyed and being able to discuss the colonization of the new world is intriguing to me. However, I enjoyed learning about the communist occupation of Czechoslovakia. It was a period that I had not previously learned about and understanding what the Czechs went through was very interesting to me.
