After watching this trailer, and starting the book, im pretty excided for the rest of the story. I feel like it will be like a quest novel kind of like the stories of king arthur. And by the way I think Mr. Copel's second cousin is James Franco fyi
After finishing the story, I hope they don't make a movie out of it. The way the story goes makes it much better. For instance, when Tristan kills the giant there is very little detail. Not only does it allow one to use their imagination to fill in the blanks, it also adds to the effect of the story, which is the focus on the love between the two loves. And, it makes the ending that much more crushing.
I'd have to agree with Parker. Although I'm sure James Franco perfectly executes his role as Tristan, movies usually take away the reader's sense of imagination throughout the book. As Parker mentioned, the lack of detail allows the reader to kind of create the story for themselves and view it in their own way while not forgetting the main point (Tristan and Iseult's love).
I feel like "oral tradition" stories like these either make great or terrible movies. I think James Franco probably did really well in it but I feel like it will be either really bad (detracting from the story the reader pictures) or really great (filling in the blank the reader maybe had and making the story seem more personal and less dry and impersonal - not that that's a bad angle for a story like this though.)
